Power Engineering Design and Development

We help clients with the myriad of power supply challenges product designers face during the course of the design process. Our power engineering team has decades of experience, spanning power supply design & power systems design for SCADA, medical, industrial control, and ultra high volume consumer applications. We have the skilled personnel and laboratory equipment to assist in all or individual areas of the power engineering lifecycle including: definition, analysis, design, design audits, validation and offshore production.
Definition, Analysis and Design: Early in the development phase, we create a power budget specification and define a power delivery system. Clients also come to us requesting we perform design audits of their power supplies. We review their power requirements, evaluate the design and provide recommendations to close any gaps, improve robustness and manufacturability.
We create or review and audit:
- Electrical Design Review
- Power Budget Analysis
- Power Delivery System Analysis
- De-rating Analysis
- Thermal Analysis
- Fault Analysis
- Load Transient Analysis
Validation: Evaluation to verify the design meets specification. Measurements in our power engineering lab include:
- AC Power Quality
- Programmable AC Transient Functions
- DC Power Measurements
- Programmable DC Application Functions
- Line & Load Regulation
- Power Up Timing
- Power Sequencing
- Fault Current Response & Recovery
Overseas Vendors / Manufacturing Launch and Product Support: we have extensive experience working with Overseas Vendors (China), launching and supporting products in production:
- Design Coordination & Validation
- Electrical Design Documents
- Qualification Test Matrix Generation and Test Procedure Generation
- Quality Assurance & Audits
- Manufacturing Support
Tools and Equipment:
- LTSpice, Webench Designer, Analog eLab, SwitcherPro, C-SIM
- CES Custom Power Delivery System Analysis Tools
- CES has a well equipped Power Engineering Lab that allows measurements described in "Validation", above.
Embedded Hardware Design and Development

Our hardware design team develops electronic systems for a wide range of industries including high-reliability industrial and avionics equipment, cutting-edge broadband wireless communications and low-cost consumer products. Our architects and circuit designers have decades of experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Precision Analog Design
- High-speed Digital Design
- VHDL / Verilog, Programmable Logic
- RF Design including
- Power Supply Design
- Environmental (EMC, EMI, safety) compliance and regulatory approval including FCC, EU, UL
We perform analysis of circuit cards and enclosure for enduring environmental stresses,
such as vibration, thermal cycling and gravitational stress.
We maintain tools for completely documenting the design.
We use both associative CAD databases and a Parts and Vendors database.
The aerospace industry requires many controls on maintaining configuration as well
as multiple sources parts lists and we have adapted this to projects beyond this
specific industry.
